Bouquet Flower - Dahlia on Flickr.

Beutiful Dahlia flower which was part of bouquet we were given for the arrival of our baby.

Lit by a single Yongnuo 560ii 1/4 power, zoomed in to 105mm and bounced from the ceiling.

Bounce - Girl and Flash! on Flickr.

Photo captured using a bounce flash from the ceiling to help freeze her motion as she jumped around the living room. Without the bounced flash the shot would have been impossible.

Flashgun - Yong Nuo 460ii Speedlight

I decided I needed a proper external flash gun to use indoors in low lighting and for Strobist work (using speedlights as light modifiers and studio lighting).

After a lot of research I decided on a Yong Nuo 460ii, it was cheap at only £30 from Ebay, has quick recycle times and is fully manual. It has a fully rotating head so is ideal for bouncing light off of ceilings when in low lighting conditions indoors and where you have a nice white surface. A white wall nearby will also work where ceilings are too high, coloured or uneven.

I wouldn’t be without it now and have captured many photo’s which would have been impossible otherwise. One downside is that the flash is quite large on my Lumix G3 Micro Four Thirds camera (not far off the size of the camera), but it is still very usable and lightweight.
